Reqn No.26,412.

CR

19 Queen Anne's Gates, Westminster, London, S.W.
6th September 1899
Proposed New Law Courts &c Hong Kong.
Memorandum to accompany Design for the above as shown in Drawings Nos 1 to 11.
In accordance with the instructions contained in para: 2 of the Crown Agents letter of 29th June 1898 and 1st March 1899 the drawings herewith are not to be considered as working drawings inasmuch as minute points of detail and construction have not been dealt with. But they have nevertheless been very fully considered and require but few additions to enable estimates to be prepared from them and the work carried into execution.
No attempt has been made to arrange the piling for the foundations, the drawings dealing only with the superstructure.
The variations suggested or approved by the Director of Works Report of 16.11.98 have been attended to as follows:-
1. It is proposed to heat the building by hot water; a convenient place for the boiler being under the lavatory in the angle of the blocks where a flue has been provided.
2. The space provided in the sketch plans for the Judges Clerks has been allotted to the Judges, their own rooms being proportionately enlarged and a central open Loggia for their joint use is provided overlooking the Gardens and Harbour.
3. See preceding paragraph.
